The Atlas Copco ZL 3-4 oil-free lobe blower series extends the proven ZL platform to higher flow capacities, covering 15 to 90 kW with flow rates from 300 to 3,958 m3/h at pressures up to 1 bar(g). Built on the same tri-lobe positive displacement principle as the ZL 1-2, the ZL 3-4 adds practical installation features including forklift slots and door handles. The VSD variant features a Danfoss frequency converter for precise flow control. These blowers serve wastewater treatment, cement, food and beverage, and power generation applications with reliable, uninterrupted operation.
Series Overview
The Atlas Copco ZL 3-4 roots blower family covers two larger frame sizes within the ZL series, each available in fixed speed or VSD configurations. The positive displacement principle with fixed characteristics makes the product suitable for applications requiring higher flow rates. Whether it involves pneumatic transport, fluidization of silos, or aeration in wastewater treatment plants, the ZL 3-4 blowers deliver reliable performance around the clock.
Operation in high-ambient temperature environments or at high altitude is not an issue for ZL 3-4 blowers. The cooling system and integrated safety and start-up valve contribute to trouble-free operation during the lifetime of the blower. The integrated VSD controller with Elektronikon Mk5 panel provides user-friendly operation and total observance of blower condition.

Traditional Design and Cool Canopy
The ZL 3-4 roots blower features a tri-lobe blower element with traditionally selected strong bearing and gear set. Forced ventilation flow keeps the internal temperature of the canopy close to ambient temperature, contributing to the reliability of the unit. An outdoor version is available for operation in conditions from -10 to +55 °C.
Durable Outlet Connection and Visual Control
An integrated compensator with flange provides structural decoupling and installation alignment. Its stainless steel material brings a long-lasting, corrosion-resistant solution. The mechanical pressure and differential pressure gauges provide easy-to-read information about outlet pressure and air filter condition. Operators get immediate and understandable visual control of blower status.
PVO Valve and Maintenance-Free Belt Tensioning
The safety and start-up function is integrated into the PVO valve, ensuring that pressure remains under control. Each blower start is smooth, contributing to trouble-free operation. The automatic belt tensioning by motor weight eliminates belt slip and keeps transmission efficiency high for the whole lifetime of the belts.
Forklift Slots and Door Handles
The ZL 3-4 base frame includes forklift slots to further simplify installation and positioning. This feature, unique to the larger ZL frame sizes, allows easy handling during commissioning.
