Engineered for high-capacity industrial applications, the Atlas Copco BD series thermal regeneration adsorption dryers deliver reliable moisture removal. Unlike compression heat dryers that depend on compressor heat, these standalone units use ambient air heated by a blower for regeneration, making them suitable for diverse compressed air systems.

Featuring three product lines with varying levels of energy efficiency and performance, the BD series provides flexible solutions for applications where compressed air quality and operational reliability are critical. From standard models to zero air consumption variants, these dryers consistently deliver -40°C pressure dew point performance across a wide airflow range.

Product Line Overview

The BD series consists of three product lines, each designed to meet specific energy efficiency requirements:

BD 360-3450: Standard thermal regeneration dryers with cold blowing and air consumption. Ideal for applications with moderate energy efficiency requirements.

BD 330+-3000+: High-efficiency models with reduced air consumption during regeneration. Features optimized design for improved energy savings.

BD 330+ ZP-3000+ ZP: Zero air consumption cold blowing models for maximum energy efficiency. Eliminates purge air waste completely.

The BD series covers a wide airflow range from 360 m³/min to 3450 m³/min, ensuring compatibility with various compressor outputs, including the full ZR/ZT oil-free screw compressor range.

Working Principle

The BD series thermal regeneration adsorption dryer operates on a proven twin-tower design with blower-heated regeneration.

How It Works

A blower draws ambient air and passes it through a heater. The heated gas flows through the saturated adsorbent in the regeneration tower, blowing out the adsorbed moisture from top to bottom. After heating, the adsorbent requires cooling before it can begin drying again.

Models with air consumption cold blowing: Compressed air from the adsorption tower outlet is used to cool the desiccant in the regeneration tower from top to bottom. This method uses a small amount of dry compressed air for cooling.

Zero air consumption cold blowing models (BD+ ZP): After heating, gas from the cooler is circulated back into the tower from bottom to top, continuously cooling the adsorbent without consuming any compressed air.

Key Features

Long Life Silica Adsorbents

The BD series uses high adsorption capacity silica gel adsorbent that requires less regeneration energy. Its two-layer adsorbent bed design incorporates a waterproof lower layer to protect the high-performance upper layer. With up to 30% extra adsorbent filling, these dryers effectively handle high-temperature and short-term overload conditions. Standard pressure dew point reaches -40°C (-40°F), with -70°C (-100°F) available as an option.

Stainless Steel Valves

Actuator-equipped, all-stainless steel butterfly valves deliver long service life and withstand the high temperatures encountered during regeneration. Consequently, this design ensures reliable operation even under continuous industrial use.
