The Atlas Copco ZE 3S is a low-pressure oil-free screw compressor . It moves large volumes of 100% oil-free air at 1.5 to 2.5 bar(g). Where product purity and process continuity matter, it replaces truck-mounted blowers. Every unit is designed, built, and tested to ISO 9001. Product Overview
The ZE 3S covers 37–90 kW (50–120 hp) in fixed-speed and VSD variants. You can order it with or without a customer-supplied motor. Its single-stage oil-free screw element uses a Teflon coating. A cooling jacket holds rotor clearances to a minimum. No oil enters the compression chamber. The delivered air meets ISO 8573-1 Class 0, the strictest air-purity standard.

1. Process Air Filter
Overview: The intake combines a high-efficiency filter with an integrated silencer. Engineering principle: The baffled silencer cuts intake noise while the filter traps dust first. A pressure-drop indicator on the panel shows when to service the element. Practical value: Clean intake air protects the rotors and extends service intervals. It also keeps the package quiet in dusty plants.
2. Oil-Free Screw Element
Overview: This is the heart of the compressor: an oil-free screw element with Teflon coating. Engineering principle: Internal compression happens between two synchronized, non-contacting rotors. A cooling jacket circulates oil to keep clearances minimal. Practical value: Minimal clearance means maximum efficiency, and Teflon guarantees oil-free air. There is no risk of oil leakage into the air stream.
3. High-Precision Gearbox Drive System
Overview: The rotors are driven through a robust direct gearbox. Engineering principle: It is built to AGMA Q13 / DIN Class 5 precision. These high-grade gears cut transmission losses, noise, and vibration. Practical value: Lower vibration protects nearby components and extends element life. It delivers dependable performance year after year.
4. Integrated Oil Pump
Overview: An oil pump is mounted directly on the gearbox and driven by it. Engineering principle: A bypass valve meters the exact oil flow for bearing and gear cooling. Filtered cool oil is sprayed through individually tuned nozzles. Practical value: All oil is recovered internally into the gearbox Carter. Self-contained lubrication removes auxiliary motors and simplifies service.
5. Silencer (Discharge Pulsation Damper)
Overview: A discharge pulsation damper sits in the air outlet path. Engineering principle: It smooths the delivered flow by damping dynamic pressure pulses. Practical value: Stable, low-pulsation air protects downstream piping and equipment. It also reduces package noise at the outlet.
